Mastering Climate and Heating in your VW EV with Tips You’ll Actually Use

mastering climate and heating in your vw ev with tips youll actually use

Volkswagen’s ID.4 and ID.Buzz offer more climate control flexibility than most owners realize. The stationary mode allows the HVAC system to run while parked — perfect for warming up before a winter commute or cooling down after a summer hike. Through the myVW app, owners can schedule pre-conditioning sessions, activate defrosting, or even warm seats based on timers. This functionality draws from the high-voltage battery, meaning there’s no need for an idling engine or separate auxiliary heater like in some ICE vehicles. Watch how it all works in this episode of the VWIDTalk Podcast.

The infotainment system also includes “Smart Climate” programs — preset five-minute bursts like “Warm My Hands” or “Fresh Air” — which can be triggered manually or by voice commands. Owners can customize shortcut menus for quicker access to features like air recirculation or steering wheel heating, while a lesser-known trick allows climate to begin as soon as the car is unlocked.

If you’ve ever chased down a rare part number, dreamed about building your perfect GTI or just love a good car story, this one’s for you. Get the full story on the  VWIDTalk Podcast on YouTube and wherever you get your podcasts ( Apple Podcasts,  Spotify, Overdrive and more).

The TTAC Creators Series tells stories and amplifies creators from all corners of the car world, including culture, dealerships, collections, modified builds and more.
