Ford Calls Most Salaried Workers Back Into the Office Four Days Per Week

Ford is joining many global companies in calling workers back to the office most days of the week. It recently asked the majority of its salaried workforce to come into the office at least four days per week as it looks to make improvements to its business processes.

A Ford spokesperson told Reuters, “Many of our employees have been in the office three or more days per week for some time now. We believe working together in person on a day-to-day basis will help accelerate Ford’s transformation into a higher growth, higher margin, less cyclical and more dynamic company.”

The spokesperson did not specify the number of workers that would be pulled back into the office, but the automaker is one of several companies making similar moves. While it’s likely to make some people quit and many will complain, it’s probably one of Ford’s best steps to address some of the issues that have plagued it for years without initiating layoffs and more dramatic actions.

Ford has had the most or nearly the most automotive recalls for years, and despite CEO Jim Farley’s promises to focus on the issues, it remains at the top of the list again for 2025. Its quality challenges have become legal issues, too, as it was recently sued by owners who say it failed to notify them of potentially catastrophic engine overheating issues.
